Diabetes
Diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by an excessive amount of sugar (glucose) in the blood.
It is distinguished: type 1 diabetes also called juvenile diabetes, as it tends to occur in childhood or adolescence: the immune system, identifies the cells of the pancreas that produce insulin as foreign and therefore harmful and provides to attack them to destroy them.
Type 2 diabetes is caused by a malfunction of the pancreas that produces insufficient insulin or it is not used by the body in an optimal manner, thus causing an excess of glucose in the blood.
