Cataract

Cataract is the opacification of the crystalline lens that is the inside of the eye has the function of focusing on the images on the retina.
Cataracts are a degenerative process that is mainly caused by advancing age. This degenerative process can be more or less accelerated by lifestyle; smoking, excessive consumption of sugars and animal fats can increase the probability of the onset of the disease.
Frequent use of some cortisone-based drugs may also be one of the causes of the disease. For prevention it is useful to follow an antioxidant and chelating therapy which slows down the oxidative effect on the crystalline lens.
